INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINEDEFINITION OF I.C ENGINE TERMS1. CAM : THIS IS A RECIPROCATING ENGINE WHERE PISTON TRANSFER THERE FORCE TO A CAM SHAFT .
2. CAM SHAFT : A CAMSHAFT ON AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE THAT LIMIT BOTH THE INPUT OF FUEL AND THE EXPULSION OF EXHAUST FUMES .
3. CRANK SHAFT : IT IS A MECHANICAL COMPONENT USED IN A PISTON. THIS IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE BACKBONE OF I.C ENGINE . THIS IS IMPORTANT PART OF I.C ENGINE .WHICH IS DO THEIR MAIN FUNCTION THAT IS PROPERLY DO THE OPERATION OF THE ENGINE AND CONVERTING LINEAR MOTION TO ROTATIONAL MOTION.
4. CRANKCASE : THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT PART IN THE I.C ENGINE WHICH HOLDS ALL THE OTHER ENGINE PARTS TO KEEP TOGETHER. THE CRANKCASE IS THE HOUSING THAT SURROUNDS THE CRANKSHAFT . IN MOSTLY ENGINE THE CRANKCASE IS INTEGRATED INTO ENGINE BLOCK. THIS IS VERY LARGEST PART OF THE ENGINE . THIS IS MADE UP OF ALUMINIUM. IT COVERS THE ENGINE PARTS TO PERFORM SMOOTHLY THEIR OPERATION.
5. CONNECTING ROD : A CONNECTING ROD IS ALSO CALLED A JOINT ROD . THIS IS THE MAJOR PART OF PISTON ENGINE . WHICH CONNECTS PISTON TO THE CRANKSHAFT . BY MEANS OF GUDGEON PIN AT (TOP AND CRANKPIN AT (BOTTOM) . THE MAIN FUNCTION OF CONNECTING ROD IS TO CONNECT THE PISTON TO THE CRANKSHAFT .
- TYPES OF CONNECTING ROD : 1. I - BEAM 2. X - BEAM 3. H- BEAM
